Kenneth HahnSURVIVOR KENNETH HAHN

The last thing that a healthy, 36-year-old man expects to have is a stroke. But for Kenneth Hahn, this unfortunate scenario became a reality for him while lifting weights at a gym. "I noticed blind spots in my peripheral vision. I decided to cut my workout short, thinking it would pass," he says. "After 10 minutes, everything got worse – to the point where I couldn’t walk. An attendant at the gym called 9-1-1 and the ambulance came right away." At the hospital, an MRI confirmed Kenneth had a stroke and was started on blood thinners. Within an hour, his vision returned. Hahn was able to return to his work as a dentist within two months. Kenneth is thankful to the Foundation for funding important research that provides better treatment options as well as improves the quality of lives for the 300,000 stroke survivors in Canada – young and old.
